I’m a big fan of Haberdash in Chicago. I’m also a big fan of their blog, http://haberdashmen.com/ Every once in a while, this lad, Phil (never met him in-shop before) posts his current favorite music selections. “Late Night Tales: Belle and Sebastian, Vol. 2” made his Spring 2012 playlist, and I couldn’t have made a better selection myself. I honestly do not typically listen to the type of music found on the album, but for some reason I’ve really been drawn to it. “A Time For Us” by Joe Pass is especially intriguing because of its two guitar solos. The vocals open strong, but fall victim to a captivating guitar solo. When the vocals return, they simply strike me as noise until the vocalists quote the songs title. “The time for us is now” is a segway to the second solo, and the rest is bliss.
